Metal on metal, grinding to an unscheduled stop at a forgotten outpost, sparks flew along the rails. The engineer's sweat dripped onto the wheel. The pressure of the knife at his throat intensified as the train came to a stop, just short of the rickety platform.
"Gracias por el aventón," came a raspy voice, muffled by a ski mask. With that, the blade pierced the skin and pulled back toward the engineer's jugular vein. Blood and sweat pooled at the feet of the escaped Sureño, who leapt from the train.
