NO EXCUSES, FICTIONEERS!
A glint of hope, bright like a spring flower in February, tore through the bleak clouds of depression. It was just a pinprick in the darkness, but after months of despair, she was ready to try anything new, no matter how experimental. This was the last option of a long list of medications, therapies, tests, and hospitalizations. She hoped and prayed that this time she would be one of the lucky ones who escaped the suffocating cave.
Note: Depression is insidious. This little fiction piece was inspired by the the adult daughter of a friend whose depression is unrelenting and impervious to treatment, even the last ditch experimental ones that include doctor administered hallucinogens. If you are of a mind to pray for Rylea and her parents, June and Derrick, I’m sure they would appreciate knowing that even strangers can care enough to seek Jehovah Rapha.
