:Write about an old bridge
a chilling warmth
“Could you have done better?”
The kind of character who is always working.
WRITE ON, FICTIONEERS!
The old bridge wasn't haunted. No trolls, no ogres, nothing scary in the water. It was always a bucolic scene, inviting and warm, a place to go to make memories, to dream, and to soak in the beauty all around. No one knew who built it or exactly when; it was just there, unaltered and serene.
There was only one imperfection in the old bridge: it was made entirely of mist. The warmth it promised carried a chill. And that chill ensured no one ever walked near. Even the animals avoided it.
And so the old bridge, a form without substance, remained an unfulfilled promise.
I really love this. Evocative, mysterious. Written without any unnecessary words. 🤩👏
